MELBOURNE and LOS ANGELES (July 7, 2014) – Life on suburban Ramsay Street may seem quiet on the surface, but on Monday, July 14, American audiences will learn all about the intrigue, heartbreak and scandal that fills the lives of its residents when the landmark Australian soap opera NEIGHBOURS makes its U.S. debut, exclusively on the free, ad-supported Hulu and Hulu Plus subscription service.
New episodes of NEIGHBOURS will debut daily, Monday through Friday, on Hulu and Hulu Plus - ensuring fans can stay up to date on the latest developments on Ramsay Street and won’t miss a minute of the drama in each 22-minute episode. The five weekly episodes will air four weeks after the Australian broadcast.
The U.S. premiere week of NEIGHBOURS will feature a story arc that includes a guest appearance by actress and singer Paula Abdul. In the Friday, July 18th episode, Abdul visits Ramsay Street to drop in on Doctor Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), who admits to a crush on the former American Idol judge – much to the surprise of his wife, Susan (Jackie Woodburne).
The premiere episodes mark the beginning of a number of new story arcs on NEIGHBOURS, making it an ideal entry port for American soap-opera fans who are new to the lives and loves on Ramsay Street in the fictional Australian suburb of Erinsborough.
“NEIGHBOURS provides a delicious daily dose of Australian sunshine to soap-opera fans, and thanks to Hulu, we’re coming to the U.S. at a perfect entry point for first-time viewers,” said Jeff Siegel, VP Digital Distribution and Home Entertainment at FremantleMedia. “The drama, the excitement and the intrigue are all wonderfully accessible to anyone eager to get hooked on the compelling storylines of Australia’s longest-running scripted television series.”

NEIGHBOURS joins a growing number of international soap operas available on Hulu and Hulu Plus, making it the top destination for viewers who can’t get enough of the intense drama and unexpected plot twists that are their hallmarks.
Although NEIGHBOURS will be new to most American viewers, the series’ long history of being a “proving ground” for remarkable talent has led to celebrities who are part of their everyday lives.
