Have their input where possible
The level of this depends on how old your child is, but even if they’re young it’s a good idea to hear your children’s input in what they want in their bedroom. They can help you decide on things such as what they want the colors to be, the type of furniture they want and what theme they want to have. You can have them come with you to the store to pick things out such as their wallpaper or carpet, their duvet cover and cushions. You can add personalised items such as a letter a toys or cushions that reflect their initial for a nice touch.
Sort it with longevity in mind
When you are sorting your child’s bedroom, you should think of longevity. While character decor, for example, can be fun, you also need to consider how long they will want this and if it is just a phase. You don’t want the expense and hassle of redecorating their room every few months after all! To avoid this, it’s a good idea to opt for neutral decor, then accessorize with things that they love at the time. This means you don’t spend as much as it will last for much longer than it would do otherwise, but it will still have a personal touch to it.
Think about how to make it as useful as you can
As well as the decor and look side of things, you want to think about how you can make the room as useful as possible. Try and add things such as a reading area where they can comfortably look through their books. You could add a bean bag and a reading light as well as a book case for example. If they are a bit older, have a space where they can study, with a desk and practical storage for them to keep their items tidy.
These are just a few things you can do that can help you make your child’s bedroom their own. From the decor to the accessories and the way you lay it out, it can all make it come together as a beautiful place for them to both work, play and just enjoy it.
