If you want your garden to be vibrant and always buzzing with life as well as color you have to make it a haven for pollinators.
Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and other insects will play a big role in the ecosystem of your garden. Their job is to transfer pollen from one plant to another in enabling flowers to grow and reproduce. If you want your garden to be a sanctuary for pollinators there are a few things you can do.
Why Pollinators Are So Important
Pollinators are responsible for helping the world's food crops blossom and grow. Without them many of the foods that you enjoy would not exist. For example, apples, almonds as well as many other fruits and vegetables grow and reproduce because of pollinators.
Plant a Diversity of Flowers
Be sure to choose a wide variety of flowering plants from the early spring to late fall. This will ensure that the pollinators have a study food supply throughout the growing season.
You can include plants of different shapes and sizes and colors so that you can have an attractive garden.
Go Native
Native plants are often the best adopted to your local soil and climate. You should encourage native pollinators because they are already familiar with the plants in your garden native pollinators are already familiar with them.
These plants will usually require less water and maintenance and they will give nectar and Pauline to local species as needed.
Avoid Pesticides and Herbicides
Chemical space can be deadly to pollinators so make sure that you avoid these all together or use them in very small portions.
If pest control becomes a big issue, you should try organic and natural methods. Try to do these methods early in the morning or in the evening then pollinators will be less active in your garden.
Provide Water Sources
A simple bird bath or a shallow dish that is filled with water and a few pebbles will give the pollinators that come to your garden a safe place I'm teaching.
Just make sure that you are changing the water regularly so that you can prevent mosquitoes from breeding. You don't want to create a situation where you have these unpleasant insects breeding into your yard and maybe fly into your home.
Create Shelter
The pollinators in your garden are going to need a safe space to nest, and rest. When you are cleaning up your garden and cutting the grass with a landroid you should make sure you leave a few areas of the garden undisturbed. This untouched area should contain logs, brush files and soil.
Create Your Pollinator Friendly Garden
Creating a pollinator friendly garden doesn't require you to do a complete overhaul of your garden. When you make even a few small changes it can make a big difference.
